SCITT Year 2020/2021

What inspired you to become a teacher?

As a young person, I had to care for my parents and my grandmother and had to grow up fast. Home could be difficult, but high school was a safe zone where I could be a child. I want to inspire students that they can achieve, no matter what their background is.

Why did you choose Endeavour for your teacher training?

I knew a member of the trust, and the work they did promoting teaching and learning as a collaboration. The ELT SCITT feels like a family, there to support you, and the systems really do work.

What was the best thing about the programme?

Each Friday, collaborating our experiences and reflections feel like we are part of something bigger and more valuable than just a course. When you join the SCITT, you immediately feel like a colleague, not a student at university, training in the masses.

What impact has the SCITT had on your career as a teacher?

I feel like I have the systems and tools to grow as a confident teacher. Across both of my placements, I have trained in MAT schools. Therefore, I feel part of the community and have a network of support.

Describe your time on the SCITT in three words

Inspiring, enhancing and invigorating.

What advice would you give to prospective trainee teachers?

Have the confidence that you have the power to make an impact. If you are concerned about anything, don't be afraid to ask for help. You can mould your experience.

Anything else you would like to say about your time with Endeavour Learning SCITT?

Continue to support and believe in your trainees. With ELT SCITT's for all that you invest in them, you will get back.
