We were delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales to Churchtown Primary School today to celebrate the opening of the school’s new playground on Tuesday 23rd September.

Their Highnesses spoke to pupils at the school and listened to a rendition of ‘A Million Dreams’ by all 700 of the schoolchildren, with The Prince of Wales delivering a speech to the pupils.

During an emotional speech from the school’s new stage, Prince William praised the resilience of the community and the parents of Elsie,Bebe and Alice.

“You have faced such horror,” he said. “But from that you have moved forward with grace and with fortitude, creating the most remarkable legacies for your girls. We will always be here to support you.”
Calling the new playground “a symbol of remembrance and resilience,” Prince William told the gathered crowd: “This is a testament that love will always overcome tragedy”, “Enjoy this playground; be brave; be joyful; and be kind.”
