During the last year Wellfield student Sam (Year 11) has been going through the intense application process for UWC (United World Colleges). The process involved a series of written applications, assessments, interviews and aptitude tests.
'I'm so thrilled to have been given the opportunity to attend a UWC college, and I couldn't have got there without the help of Wellfield. The opportunity this gives me is massive as I believe I can progress from UWC into making real change in the world. The help various teachers I have encountered during these 5 previous years have really developed me as a person and allowed to to have been selected for such a prestigious college.'
UWC has colleges located across the world and Sam has successfully secured a place at their Atlantic college in South Wales, which is an international residential school. He has been awarded a bursary to contribute to his costs at this exclusive school. Sam will attend UWC for 2 years and have the opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate as his qualification.
The UWC mission is that education if a force that can unite people, nations and cultures for a peaceful and sustainable future. The college refer to their students as future 'changemakers', and this drive is at the heart of everything they do.
Congratulations Sam, from everyone at Wellfield & Endeavour Learning Trust we wish you the very best!
