What makes a good nomination?

A successful nomination should include:

Clear Justification – Explain why the nominee deserves the award. Focus on their specific achievements, contributions, or impact.

Detailed Examples – Provide concrete examples that illustrate the nominee’s excellence. Instead of simply stating that they are “dedicated” or “inspirational,” describe instances where their actions demonstrated these qualities.

Alignment with Award Criteria – Ensure the nomination aligns with the specific award category. Tailor your submission to emphasise the qualities and contributions that best match the award’s purpose.

Expanding on Details

A strong nomination avoids vague statements and instead provides depth and insight. Consider addressing:

How has the nominee gone above and beyond in their role?

What specific challenges have they overcome?

What difference has their work made to individuals or the wider school/trust community?

Have they introduced new ideas, approaches, or initiatives that have had a lasting impact?

How do they embody the values and ethos of the school or trust?

Exclusions from Nominations

Please note that Headteachers and members of the Trust Executive Team are not eligible for nomination.

Final Tips

Be concise but thorough—ensure your nomination is clear, well-structured, and compelling.

Use specific examples rather than general praise.

If applicable, include quotes from colleagues, students, or parents to add further weight to your nomination.

Proof read your submission before sending it to ensure clarity and completeness.
