Subject Chemistry

SCITT Year 2020/2021

What inspired you to train as a teacher?

My college teacher for chemistry inspired me to learn chemistry while I was a student there and ever since then I wanted to do the same and become a chemistry teacher.

Why did you choose Endeavour for your teacher training?

When I first came to look around Tarleton just before lockdown 1, the sense of community and how highly praised it was from that year’s cohort made me think I really wanted to be there and withdrew from my other applications.

What was the best thing about the programme?

The hands-on experience rather than “wasting” time in a lecture theatre for weeks. This time we have spent in school has been invaluable. Also, the trust has such a great relationship with its partner schools there was no difficulty in putting us in placements while other courses struggled to get trainees into placements.

Describe your time on the SCITT in three words.

Challenging, Rewarding, Fun

What advice would you give to prospective trainee teachers?

Make sure you get your LJMU assignments done as soon as you get them. In October/November, you will still be easing into time on your timetable. Use that time to get your assignments done – you will regret it if you don’t!

Anything else you would like to say about your time with Endeavour Learning SCITT?

Roger (The Course Leader) is the heart and soul of the course and will do everything he can for his trainees. He has helped us all so much and is a credit to the Endeavour Learning Trust.
