Lesley Gwinnett - CEO
Lesley is the CEO of Endeavour Learning Trust, which currently leads six schools (4 secondary and 2 primary, with over 4,00 pupils) across South Lancashire and North Sefton. In addition, the Trust also leads a thriving schools’ alliance (previously a Teaching School); an extensive extended schools programme, which includes school sports games for 80+ primaries, and is also an accredited School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider with School Direct partners across the North West.
Lesley first became a Head at Tarleton Academy in 2011, having entered the teaching profession in 1988. In her career, Lesley has worked in a range of secondary schools in social priority areas and, prior to Tarleton, as a middle and then senior leader at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive, an 11-18 school in Cheshire East. Lesley has also spent a year on secondment at Edge Hill University developing school improvement outreach work and Masters’ level PD programmes for serving practitioners with the Faculty of Education.
Lesley secured an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ judgement of leadership and management at Tarleton in 2014 and became a National Leader of Education in 2017. Since this time, she has worked with a wide range of schools in challenging circumstances (in an Ofsted Category or vulnerable) to lead and shape the school improvement process. This has included Executive Head roles at three additional secondary schools and the widening of her cross phase experience to include the sponsorship of a further primary school into the ELT MAT. Lesley is also an NCTL accredited Pupil Premium Reviewer. Lesley has contributed significantly to system leadership, including as the Chair of the BBL (Blackpool, Blackburn with Darwen and Lancashire) CEO Network, she currently sits on the multi-agency Lancashire Children and Young People Partnership Board and she is also an established member of the LWY (Lancashire and West Yorkshire) RSC Advisory Board.
In her roles she has developed extensive experience and knowledge of transformational school improvement strategies, legal and HR processes, budget maximisation, curriculum design, effective, behaviour policy and processes, effective special educational needs effectiveness and teacher and leadership development. She has extensive experience in executive coaching; developing, managing and delivering a wide range of CPD, school-to-school support and initial teacher training. Her experience also includes financial management and the effective management of resources to secure best value.
